Bungalow Breathing Room

This classic bungalow is home to a vibrant family, & was in desperate need of some breathing room, as well as access to a beautiful but seemingly unreachable back yard.       

  

The solution was to “grow” the house out towards the backyard.  A tiny existing galley kitchen & isolated dining room were combined with the new square footage to create a sun-filled great room with discrete but open spaces for dining, entertaining, & cooking, as well as a new laundry room.  This new space opens up to a cathedral ceilinged screened porch & deck, with generous steps cascading down into the yard.
